As of Tuesday, Dec. 19 around 10:30 a.m., just over 25,000 customers in the state are still without power, according to both Eversource and United Illuminated.
The outages were caused by a potent storm system that brought several inches of rain and gusty winds on Monday, Dec. 18, causing trees and tree limbs to fall.
The town with the most remaining outages in the state is still Killingly in Windham County, where 1,892 customers are in the dark. Other towns with a large number of remaining outages, largely located in the eastern part of the state, include:
- Brooklyn, with 1,191;
- Canterbury, with 943;
- Griswold, with 937;
- Plainfield, with 1,095;
- Sterling, with 980;
- Woodstock, with 1,802.
In a post on X, Eversource stated its crews were working through Monday night into Tuesday to continue restoring power to customers.
